Small Things – BIG ALBERTA!

Ep 1: Enoch Cree Nation

Alice is invited to Enoch Cree Nation by her friend dale.

Together they explore the nation and Dale has a new friend for Alice to meet; Maskwa the bear!

Together they meet animals that live around the Cree Nation and also get to hear a story about a Thunder Bird.

Ep 2: Elk Island National Park

Maskwa the bear meets up with Alice at Elk Island National Park to find Bison.

Dale Alexis Sr. Guides them through one of the many trails Elk Island has to offer. 

Alice and Maskwa get to learn about the importance of Alberta’s wildlife and National Parks.

Ep 3: Ponds and Wetlands

Alice and Squidgell the Squirrel explore some of the ponds and Wetlands in Edmonton’s urban spaces.

They also find a lost gosling and some scuds, which are small fresh water crustaceans.

Ep 1: Finding Spring

Alice and Maskwa the bear decide to go for a spring walk in the Edmonton River Valley.

They discover that there is still snow on the ground and the weather is still chilly. 

Maskwa happens to know where Spring lives so everyone goes on an adventure to see what has happened to Spring.

Ep 2: Imagination

Alice has brought a tickle trunk full of costumes to play dress-up with. Maskwa is confused as not only has he never dressed up before, but he has also never played pretend before either.

Gerald the moose is here to save the day and introduces Maskwa and Alice to his LARP friends. From there they all get taught how to use their imaginations.

Ep 3: Dog Walking

This Episode is all about our four legged friends: Dogs! Alice decides to take her dog Potluck on a walk with Maskwa the bear.

They get to meet up with The Edmonton Pug Club at Paisley Dog Park.

They also get to see what it’s like for working dogs and go to a training session with the Alberta Search and Disaster Dogs Association

Ep 4: A Hawrelak Mystery

Alice meets up with her friends at Hawrelak Park as they want to search for fun autumn leaves.

Squidgell the squirrel ends up miss placing his collection of pine cones, and their adventure soon turned into a mystery that has to be solved!

Ep 5: Frogs and Fairs

Alice and Maskwa the bear are invited to a summer fair by their friend Peter Daly.

Peter is and entomologist and biologist and has lots of bug specimens to show Alice and Maskwa. 

Later they go on a frog hunt and explore some good habits that frogs can commonly be found on the outskirts of Edmonton.

Ep 6: Jurassic Forest

Alice, Maskwa and Gerald the Moose take a guided tour of Jurassic Forest.

They get to see so many dinosaurs and Cara, the tour guide, gives them so much information on each dinosaur!

After Alice makes a few colouring pages of several of her favourite dinosaurs.

Ep 7: Alexis Firehouse

Maskwa takes Alice to Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation to meet his friends at the Alexis Firehouse.

They are all volunteer fire fighters and they show Alice and Maskwa their fire truck, fire fighting equipment and even give a demonstration on the use of some of the equipment.

Ep 8: Kootenai’s Cabin

Alice and Squidgell the Squirrel are in Pincher Creek visiting Kootenai Pioneer Village.

Ranger Gord is delighted to tell Alice more about what life was like on the Alberta frontier in the 1800s

Alice also has a small craft segment where she shows viewers how to make a small time capsule!
